Absentee Ballots for the March 3rd, 2020 STATE PRIMARY ELECTION are now available in the Rockland Town Clerk’s office.
Absentee ballots are available for anyone who is:
A registered voter who will be unable to vote at the polls on election day due to:
(1) absence from your city or town during normal polling hours;
(2) physical disability preventing you from going to the polling place;
(3) religious belief;
A non-registered voter who is:
(1) a Massachusetts citizen absent from the state;
(2) an active member of the armed forces or merchant marines,
their spouse or dependent;
(3) a person confined in a correctional facility or a jail, except if by
reason of felony conviction.
An application must be made in writing and filed with the Town Clerk’s Office. If you cannot apply in person, you can mail an application or have a family member file an application on your behalf. Applications must be made in time to allow for the mailing process to take place. Absentee ballots must be mailed to a voter, but a voted ballot can be hand delivered back to the Town Clerk’s Office. Ballots must be received in the Town Clerk’s Office by noon on the day before the date of an election, as the Town Clerk’s Office is required by law to close at noon on the day before an election, however a ballot can be delivered to the Town Clerk’s office on the day of the election before the close of polls.
You may vote absentee in person daily in the Town Clerk’s office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. until noon on Monday, March 2nd.
The State Primary Election will be held on Tuesday- March 3rd from 7:00am – 8:00pm.
