How to Apply for a Marijuana Establishment in Rockland
1. Site Control: You will need to have a location in the H-1 (Industrial Park-Hotel 1) Zoning District under agreement. You will need to provide proof of right to occupy the premise with one of the following:
a. letter of intent signed by both the property owner and you (the applicant)
b. A rental agreement
c. A deed/title that establishes you (the applicant) as the property owner
2. Select Board: You will need to submit a request to present before the Select Board. You can contact Sue Ide at 781-871-1874 Press 1 Option 4. The Select Board meets at 7pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month (except in July and August- 2nd Tuesday of the month), unless otherwise posted at Rockland Town Hall, 242 Union Street, Rockland, MA 02370 in the H. Bernard Monahan Hearing Room. The Select Board utilizes a score sheet to determine the eligibility and appropriateness of marijuana applications in the Town of Rockland. The Town, in the interest of compliance with the Cannabis Control Commission, will hear equity, non-equity marijuana applications on a 1:1 ratio.
3. The Zoning Board of Appeals: You will need to apply for a Special Permit through the Zoning Board of Appeals. You can contact Deb Shettlesworth at 781-871-1874, ext. 1195. The Zoning Board of Appeals meets virtually at 7:30pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month (except in July and August- 2nd Tuesday of the month), unless otherwise posted. The Zoning Board of Appeals considers Special Permits based on the appropriateness of the proposed location.
